The Veterans Affairs (VA) Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System was designated a Purple Heart Healthcare System at a ceremony held Friday.
The clinic received the designation for its outstanding work in providing care to veterans in the community.
” The health care system is really important, and it comes down to our staff that’s providing great care for the veterans. Our staff is constantly doing that day in and day out,” said Homero S. Martinez III, Director, VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System.
According to a release, this is the second clinic in the U.S. to receive the designation.
“The Veterans Affairs Hospitals and surrounding outpatient clinics of the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System are providing outstanding treatment, and providing a central gathering point for the veteran community. VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System represents our hearts. Our local communities owe a deep gratitude and respect to all members of the Armed Forces, especially those who have been wounded or killed in combat and honored with the Purple Heart Medal”, said Jon Lunkwicz, the Texas State Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart in the release.
