A female UTRGV student was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday evening in Edinburg.
We’re told the incident occurred at FM 107 and Sugar Road, near the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley campus.

According to Edinburg police, the female student was crossing the street in the crosswalk when she was struck by a black truck.
Police said that the student was flipped in the air following the collision.
We’re told that an off-duty EMT just happened to be on the scene and assisted the student until EMS arrived.
Authorities said the student was talking at the scene and was complaining of back pain. She was taken to Edinburg Regional for treatment.
The student’s condition is unknown at this time.
The report stated that the female driver of the black truck did not see the student crossing the street.
No word yet if any tickets will be given as the accident remains under investigation.
