The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) announced it received information that one of their students and a faculty member tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the release, the student tested positive after traveling out of state. The faculty member tested positive after returning from international travel.
UTRGV adds the student is a resident of Casa Bella Apartments on the Brownsville Campus. The student returned briefly to pick up personal items to the apartment, then returned a couple of days later. The student is currently under isolation and receiving care.
The release adds the apartments have increased sanitation in common areas and have advised residents to follow guidelines given by UT Health.
The faculty member returned home and isolated immediately following travel. The faculty member is following health protocols, said the release.
UTRGV has moved all but essential guidelines off-campus, adds the release.
