EDINBURG, Texas (KVEO) — The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley released a statement following the U.S. Supreme Court decision on DACA.

In the release, the university states the decision will allow them to continue their commitment to providing students with opportunities to succeed.

The court announced Thursday morning the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) was illegally rescinded by the Trump Administration.

The statement from President Guy Bailey reads in part:

This is momentous news for DACA students and employees at UTRGV, as they are an integral part of our UTRGV community. We are thrilled that these individuals — and those who may join the university in the future — are allowed to continue their academic and employment journeys under DACA’s protection.

Rest assured, that UTRGV will continue to support our undocumented and DACA students and employees.
