EDINBURG – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested three undocumented immigrants with previous convictions for sexual related crimes, said CBP.
On Saturday morning agents working at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint near Sarita arrested a Salvadoran national. Record checks showed a previous arrest for sexual abuse of a minor. He was convicted and sentenced to one year confinement and three years’ probation.
Less than two hours later, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City station arrested a group of undocumented immigrants. a records check on a Mexican national in the group revealed a 2014 arrest for second degree sexual offense. He was convicted and sentenced to 60-132 months incarceration. Checks also indicated he is a member of the Latin Kings gang.
Early Sunday morning, agents assigned to the McAllen station arrested a Gerardo Hurtado, a Mexican national, near Mission after he attempted to enter the U.S. illegally. During processing, record checks revealed he had an arrest by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office for sexual assault of a child. The presiding judge sentenced him to two years confinement, said the agency’s release.
