The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility are investigating after a Border Patrol Agent shot his K-9 partner.
In a statement, a CBP Spokesperson said that the agent, who is assigned to the Rio Grande Sector, discharged his service weapon when his K-9 partner attacked him at his home in Edinburg on Sunday.
The statement also included that his K-9 partner was struck.
Authorities said the K-9 ran away after the shooting but was later located nearby.
The spokesman said that both the agent and dog sustained injuries and are undergoing medical treatment.
