WESLACO, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Sunday at 11:55 p.m. on F.M. 106 one mile east of F.M. 2925-Rio Hondo. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 Ford Taurus (occupied by one male driver only) was traveling west on F.M. 106. For unknown reasons, the Ford traveled onto the right side shoulder of F.M. 106. The driver of the Ford overcorrected to the left causing it go travel into a side skid. The Ford then traveled onto the eastbound lane and drove off the roadway where it struck a metal utility pole. Driver of the Ford, 29-year-old Cody Alan Jones of Rio Hondo, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
