Undocumented immigrants found in trailer

Local News

Border Patrol Agents say the driver of a semi carrying undocumented immigrants is a U.S. Citizen.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy stopped a tractor trailer near Miller Road and Highway 281 in rural Edinburg last night. Deputies got permission to look inside.

At first, it seemed like a shipment of onions, until the K-9 pointed to a wall inside the trailer. Behind the wall were 23 men and 2 women who were undocumented. The group was turned over to Border Patrol Agents for processing. Agents say some of the immigrants paid an extra $7,500 to be smuggled through the check point.
