HARLINGEN, Texas (KVEO) — Athletes at two Rio Grande Valley (RGV) school districts have tested positive for COVID-19.

San Benito Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) and the Brownsville Independent School District both put out statements notifying of the positive cases.

San Benito CISD

In a press release, San Benito CISD said the athletic department was notified on June 15.

The district adds the case was not contracted on campus, and if parents/ guardians don’t receive a follow-up their student was “likely not in contact” with the student. All those in contact have been asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The district adds they will be continuing to practice safety measures and weekly questioners.

Officials ask that any students experiencing symptoms contact the athletic department and remain home.
