Two people killed in early morning crash, 13 year old passenger at local hospital

WESLACO, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred today at about 5:25 a.m., on F.M. 1925 east of Cesar Chavez near Edinburg.

Preliminary information revealed a Chevrolet Pickup (occupied by the driver and a 13 years old female) was traveling westbound on F.M. 1925. A Chevrolet Suburban (occupied by the driver only) was traveling eastbound  on the wrong side of the road. The Chevrolet Suburban collided head-on with the Chevrolet Pickup.

53-year-old Reynaldo Cardoza, a resident of Edinburg and driver of the Chevrolet Suburban was deceased on scene.  56-year-old Jose Garza, driver of the Chevrolet pickup, was also deceased on scene. The 13-year-old female, niece of the Chevrolet pickup driver, was transported to DHR not in critical condition. DPS Troopers are further investigating this fatal crash.
