Two arrested for aggravated assault in Harlingen

HARLINGEN, Texas – On 06/06/2019 at 10:23 A.M. the Harlingen Police Department received a call of shots fired on the 300 block of North C Street. 

When officers arrived on location, they contacted the victim who stated that he was approached by 2 unknown males who pointed a handgun at him and threatened to shoot him. One of the males then discharged the handgun at the victim and then at the victim’s dog. 

As both subjects were fleeing on foot, they were confronted by responding officers. After a brief foot chase both subjects were taken into custody. The subjects are charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Evading Arrest/Detention.

One of the subjects arrested was identified as a 15-year-old who was transported to the Daryl B. Hester Juvenile Detention Center. The second male was identified as 17-year-old Ryan Anthony Puga Jr. and was transported to the Harlingen City Jail.

During the investigation, the handgun was located and identified as an airsoft pistol.
