Tropical storm Barry is heading toward the Louisiana coast. The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center keeps Barry a tropical storm through landfall early Saturday somewhere between Lafayette and New Orleans.

Heavy rain will stay well away from the Valley but the RGV does stand a 20% of getting light showers and thundershowers through Saturday as the flow from Barry reaches back around across the Gulf and Texas.

Any threat of aggressive surf or coastal flooding has diminished as well leaving only an increased risk for strong rip currents along our beaches this weekend.
