Tropical Hanna causing major damage across the Rio Grande Valley

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas — Tropical Storm Hanna brought flooding rains, strong winds, and a large amount of damage across the Rio Grande Valley.

Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy counties are experiencing a series of weather-related damage reports.

Cameron County

Cameron County is reporting More than 36,000 power outages across the entire county.

AEP crews are expected to restore power soon in the Brownsville area.

Roads are closed in Brownsville, Harlingen, La Feria, San Benito, and Port Isabel due to flooding, downed power lines and downed trees.

Three rescues have been made in La Feria.

Shelters in Cameron County currently have zero residents.

Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County is reporting more than 169,000 power outages across the county.

Edinburg, McAllen, Mission, San Juan, and Weslaco are seeing major flooding.

Water rescues are being conducted across the county.

Mission Emergency Operations Center is set up at Mission Fire Department, however, residents are advised to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary.

Willacy County

More than 7,000 power outages are reported across the county.

Roads are flooded across Raymondville and the county.

Roofs are blown off of buildings across the county.

The Police Department and 911 lost their power.
