Troops Leaving The Border

Local News

Many troops along our border are leaving this week.

Of the 5,400, the number of forces there will go down to at least 3,000 by the holidays.

For those sticking around, The Military Times reports that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has approved plans to extend the deployment of active-duty U.S. troops at the southern border with Mexico, until January 31st.

Congressman Henry Cuellar has continually called for U.S. troops on the border to be sent home and says in part in a statement, “Ending this mission on the border sends a clear message to the American people that our dedicated U.S. Customs and Border Protection law enforcement are fully capable of securing our border.”
