Trooper Shot In The Head Shows Signs Of Gradual Improvement

Local News

A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper, hospitalized from a gunshot wound to the head and shoulder, is showing signs of improvement.

Wednesday, Trooper Moises Sanchez wife Yvonne Sanchez released a statement “Moises moved out of Neuro ICU and into the DHR Rehabilitation Hospital. He will undergo at least 3 hours of rehab each day before returning to the Neuro ICU for a surgery in the coming weeks.”

Sanchez is leaning on the power of prayer, “Moses continues to show gradual improvement, and we are praying for additional progress and improvement of his condition. I am sincerely appreciative to everyone for your compassion, encouragement and unwavering support!”

Trooper Sanchez was shot April 6th while responding to a traffic stop in Edinburg. The alleged shooter fled and let it multiple law enforcement agencies on a Manhunt. According to Edinburg Police Chief Cesar Torres, the shooter Victor Alejandro Godinez shot at officers attempting to apprehend him. Godinez remains jailed on three counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer. Bond is set at $1,000,000 for each count.
