UPDATE: The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the driver who was killed in a rollover crash in Willacy County on Monday afternoon.
The driver has been identified as Carlos Naranjo from Lyford.
A preliminary investigation revealed Naranjo failed to maintain his lane and drove off the right side of FM 1018 and overcorrected back to the left.
Authorities said that the driver then overcorrected back to the right and went into a side skid.
The vehicle then skidded off the roadway into a field and rolled.
Authorities said the driver sustained massive head injuries from not being secured by his seatbelt.
Troopers said that alcohol may be a factor.
UPDATE: Texas DPS has confirmed that a driver was killed in a one-vehicle rollover crash in Willacy County.
We’re told no passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The driver’s name has not been released.
No other vehicles were involved.
DPS Troopers are investigating following a one vehicle rollover crash in Willacy County.
Details are very limited but we’re told the crash occurred on FM 1018, west of Santa Monica.
Drivers should expect delays as they are driving through the area.
