It’s a big arrest for law enforcement.
After 4 long years on the run, a major player in the drug game is back in handcuffs.
Wednesday Cameron county sheriff Omar Lucio broke the news of Edgar Hinojosa’s arrest saying “he’s one of the top guns in the Gulf Cartel”
On the streets Hinojosa is known as “Ewok” like the Star Wars character…
Sheriff Lucio said he “was talking with some of the investigators, they remember him and arrested him when he was just a ‘little bitty’ guy, so apparently that’s the reason he is an Ewok.”
Despite his possible short stature he was a big dog in the Gulf Cartel.
Sheriff Lucio says the Brownsville native was arrested in Mexico, Tuesday by Mexican law enforcement and the us marshals.
2012 DEA records show that quote “Hinojosa was a former bodyguard for Hector Manuel Sauceda- Gamboa, aka Karis, a now deceased gulf cartel plaza boss in Reynosa, Mexico.”
Hinojosa ran a drug ring, transporting tons of cocaine from Brownsville to Houston.
That was until he got arrested for conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Now four years later, justice can continue.
