A Carnival Cruise ship returned to port in Galveston just hours after departure after a toddler fell from a railing to the deck below. The three-year-old girl and her family were taking photos by the rail when the girl somehow slipped through the rail and fell from the 14th deck to the 12th deck. She fell around 12 to 15 feet. She was taken to the ship’s medical center for evaluation and the decision was made to return to port to get her to a hospital.

A carnival spokesperson said the girl was alert and stable when paramedics loaded her into an ambulance. There’s no word yet on the extent of her injuries. Carnival Liberty has since resumed the cruise.
