Threat of strong storms for the RGV

Local News

A cold front is sagging south toward the Rio Grande Valley overnight through Saturday morning. This front is expected to generate rain, thunderstorms, and possibly severe storms through dawn.

This is the best chance for rain the Valley has seen in many weeks so the precipitation is welcome but the threat of severe storms brings possible damaging winds, frequent lightning, hail, and street flooding.

The risk of rain will last through the weekend as the cold front stalls just south of the RGV through Sunday although the threat of strong storms will diminish after Saturday morning.
