Hundreds filled the stands of Texas’ Alto High School football stadium Saturday night to remember Cam’ron Matthews.
Matthews, an Alto High junior, died Saturday after suffering a seizure during a football game the night before.
The vigil gave grieving teachers, friends and family members the chance to come together and share memories.
“He was a great kid, in the classroom, an unbelievable athlete, but more importantly just a great, great kid,” said Alto ISD superintendent Kerry Birdwell.
Matthews is the sixth high school football player to die this season in the U.S., although it isn’t known if any injury sustained during the game contributed to his death.
