Texas DPS says residents can now begin scheduling their appointments

HARLINGEN, Texas (KVEO) — Gov. Greg Abbott announced last week that the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will begin opening driver license office in phases.

Texas Driver License offices in South Texas will reopen with limited services beginning this Friday, at 8:00 a.m, according to Texas DPS.

Customers can now begin scheduling their appointments.

The services that will be available include

  • applying for and original Texas driver license or identification card
  • applying for a Texas learner license
  • driver license services requiring a skills exam
  • applying for a commercial driver license (CDL) or taking a CDL skills exam
