Texas DPS investigating fatal weekend auto-pedestrian crash north of Palmview

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred north of Palmview over the weekend.

The crash occurred late Sunday night on La Homa Road, south of 6 Mile Road.

Troopers said a preliminary investigation revealed the body of male was found on the southbound lane of La Homa after being struck by an unknown vehicle.

The man, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead on Monday.

Authorities said further investigation revealed the man was from Guatemala.

According to the report, paint chips found at the scene indicate the suspect’s vehicle was possibly purple.
