Texas Department of Transportation urging caution with motorcycle traffic

Local News

PHARR, Texas – Over 400 motorcyclists were killed last year in Texas and nearly 2,000 were injured, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

As part of National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month coming in May, TxDOT hosted an event over the weekend raising awareness on how to prevent motorcycle accidents. The Share the Road, Look Twice for Motorcycles campaign is reminding drivers to remain alert on the road.

“There’s a lot of times when they get super close to you thinking you need a little space and get in your lane. That’s not a good feeling it’s something between life and death.” Says one motorcyclist.

Community members participated in an interactive 360-degree virtual reality video of traffic scenarios from the perspective of a rider.
