Health and fitness take center stage at one elementary school.

Commandant of the Texas A&M University corps visits Ortiz Elementary to discuss the importance of staying active.

Elementary students had a chance to listen to the brigadier general and learn a few exercise drills.

Brigadier General Joe Ramirez, Commandant of Cadets at Texas A&M says, “at a time when our country is getting bigger and childhood obesity is becoming a big problem in this country, we need these young people to start developing healthier lifestyles…”

Along with visiting the elementary students, Texas A&M representatives are said to visit all Brownsville high schools to talk about admission, scholarships and their future success.
