Several dignitaries were in the Rio Grande Valley today to formally dedicate the $40 million Texas A&M McAllen Higher Education Center.
During the ceremony this afternoon at the Tres Lagos Campus, Governor Greg Abbott, Chancellor of Texas A&M John Sharp, as well as A&M President Michael K. Young were present. The 65,000 square foot facility features state of the art labs, classrooms, and collaborative work spaces for students.
The $40 million investment is a partnership between the city of McAllen, Hidalgo County and Texas A&M University.
“This is an investment in the leaders of tomorrow. Leaders who will keep Texas the most prosperous state in our entire nation.” said the Governor.
Texas A&M McAllen started with just 19 students and currently has more than 200 students enrolled and that number is expected to grow rapidly.
