Tattoo parlors still waiting to reopen

Local News

MCALLEN — As barbershops, hair salons, and other businesses reopen across Texas, tattoo parlors are still waiting for their call to get back to work.

“If there are other industries that are giving guidelines to be safe, and allowed to open up, I think we should be able to also,” said Eric Soto, Owner and artist at Ink Elephant.

Artists say they should be allowed to reopen to bring in more customers.

“The fact that the governor is not allowing tattoo shops to open, is a little bit troubling. its hard to not take it as something maybe prejudicial,” said Soto. “Because of the fact that other industries that operate under the same circumstances as we do are allowed to open and follow certain guidelines and restrictions to be safe, and we’re not allowed to open.”

Soto says if they are allowed to open up, they would follow any regulations put in place by the state.
