Taking Care of Your Pets During Extreme Heat Days

Local News

With the extreme heat it is also important to be mindful of our pets.

The Palm Valley Animal Center says there are ways to keep your pets safe from the heat. When possible bring your pets indoors especially during the hottest times of the day. Make sure your pets have plenty of water and shade, and never leave your pets in a vehicle even with the air condition running.

This year the shelter is trying new ways to keep their animals comfortable and one of those ways is with the use of ice.

Rebeca Villanueva – PVAC Director of Development said, “If you’re out and about and you happen to be by Palm Valley Animal Center, and you have a couple of bags of ice you’d like to bring over, we can definitely use those. Were also going to need a couple of coolers so we can keep those donations in.”

The shelter says if your animal does become distressed because of the heat, seek immediate medical attention.
