Suspects accused of killing their roommate back in court

EDINBURG, Texas – A pair of murder suspects accused of killing their roommate in late July are back in court.

25-year-old Julio César De León, and 28-year-old Edna Rivera face Capital Murder by Terroristic Threat charges after allegedly kidnapping and shooting 23-year-old Fernando Garza Jr. in the face then burning his car near an Edinburg orchard where his body was found.

De León is being held in the county jail with no bond. While Rivera’s bond was reduced from $580,000 to $180,000. The state now has 30 days to decide whether they will be seeking the death sentence for both.
