Suspect Involved In Shooting Of DPS Trooper Has Been Arraigned

EDINBURG, Texas – According to the Texas DPS, Victor Alejandro Godinez, the suspect that was involved in the shooting of a DPS trooper, has been arraigned by Municipal Judge Terry Palacios.

Godinez has been charged with 3-counts of Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer, a 1st-degree felony.

The video shows Godinez being arrested at around 12:45 AM near Mon Mack Road and Lula Street.

Texas Department of Public Safety has not released the name of the trooper, however State Representative Eddlie Lucio III has confirmed the troopers identity on Facebook. Representative Lucio has asked for prayers to trooper Moises Sanchez and his family. 

Update: Texas Department of Public Safety has now confirmed the trooper as Moises Sanchez via Twitter. 

Godinez’s bond has been set at one million dollars on each count.
