Surprise Gifts For Senior Citizens

Local News

Valley Baptist Health System set out to deliver gifts to nursing homes just in time for the Christmas season.

Their goal, to distribute 1,100 scarves to senior citizens across 14 nursing homes in Cameron and Willacy counties.

We met with the group during one of their surprise visits, where they tell us, a small gift can go a long way.

“We’ve got residents that don’t have family members. They may not get presents normally at Christmas time, but Valley Baptist was kind enough.” Said Dan Broadway of Ebony Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

“We started this to make sure residents had somebody visit them and come and give them a gift during Christmas, but I think what we’ve all found is that we’re the ones that really receive the gift by giving.” Said Leslie Bingham of the Valley Baptist Medical Center Brownsville.

One of the guests receiving these gifts tells us, he’s glad someone came to visit this Christmas.
