Summer Teaching Sessions at Camp Rio at Lula Sams

In an age of smartphones and tablets, Camp Rio at Historic Lula Sams, hopes to teach children while spending some time with nature.

The camp is said to have dozens of outdoor activities that teach the children life lessons. The weeklong summer sessions are for students in 1st through 5th grade hosted by IDEA Public Schools.
It is a summer alternative available for students from all valley school districts.

Nancy Mance – Park Director, “We desire to build character inside the kids. We want to give them an opportunity to practice success and failure and to help them through those different opportunities”

According to Mance, summer sessions will continue even there is inclement weather. The site plans to add multiple overnight camping activities in the upcoming years.
