MCALLEN, Texas – The McAllen Medical Center announcing they are now a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center with advanced technology and doctors to assist patients during a stroke. Since its certification in October, the hospital has treated nearly a thousand stroke patients.
Ameer Hassan, director of interventional, “Now, most of the EMS’s should divert the traffic to here. The appropriate work will be done and if the patient is a candidate for cathater lab the patient will go straight upstairs to the lab. You save a lot of time and we all the time is brain. Every minute two million neurons die. The faster you can get treatment the more functional recovery you will have.”
Officials say the hospital is working towards starting a stroke research project in the near future.
