A state trooper found 29 pounds of marijuana inside the gas tank of a vehicle during a traffic stop in Willacy County, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

At about 3:15 p.m. on Monday, a state trooper stopped the driver of a 2001 Gray Kia Sorento for a traffic violation on Interstate Highway 69 E. 

According to the news release, the trooper found 24 bundles of marijuana inside the gas tank of the Kia Sorento. The Texas Department of Public Safety estimates the seizure is worth more than $176,001, according to the news release.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Ramiro Morin Valdez of Brownsville, was arrested and transported to the Willacy County jail. Valdez was charged with felony possession of marijuana, according to the news release.
