Starr County shooting investigation underway

GARCENO, Texas – A man is dead following a shooting in Starr County.

An investigation is underway after 34-year-old Arturo Gomez was gunned down in Garceno, an area between Roma and Rio Grande City. Around 3:00 a.m. today, deputies responded to a call for shots fired and received reports of multiple cars leaving the scene at a high rate of speed, according to the Starr County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies later stopped a grey pick up truck where Gomez was reportedly being transported in to the hospital.

A person of interest has been detained.
