STARR COUNTY, Texas (KVEO) — Starr County officials said the county would no longer be paying for COVID-19 tests for uninsured patients.

According to a statement from Dr. Jose Vasquez, Starr County Health Authority, this will be effective July 8.

This was Starr county and the Commissioner court’s decision

Vasquez added free testing would still be available through the National Guard at designated testing sites.

The drive thru facility will continue to provide testing to insured patients or for $150, said Vasquez.
