Stand Off Forces School Lock Down

Local News

Two Donna schools were placed on lock down following a standoff in a nearby neighborhood.

Authorities responded to the 3200 block of Goolie Road. Donna Police say around 4:30 p.m. a repo company showed up at the residence to recover some property. That’s when the alleged upset homeowner, possibly intoxicated, fired shots at the employees with the repo company.

As a precaution, Salazar Elementary and Veterans Middle School were placed on temporary lockdown. Police say their special units responded to the standoff that lasted about 45 minutes with the suspect and family. Crisis negotiators were able to secure the area and recover the weapon.

Charges are still pending as police investigate the legality of the repossession.
