Special Need students from the PSJA ISD are giving back to the community with their floral designs. Students with the Pathways Towards Independence program are using their vocational skills in Floral Design to decorate headstones at the San Juan Cemetery.
These students are enrolled in a floral design class and it’s one of the many projects they complete throughout the year. Funding for the project came from a $1,000 grant after instructor Diana Clark came up with the idea.
Diana Clark, Special Education teacher, “The students prepared their arrangements and now as a community service project where the students can give back and also apply real life situation to their lesson.”
Once students complete the Floral Design course, they will receive a certification from STC.
