The City of Weslaco will be holding a special election in July to fill the vacant seat left by Gerardo “Jerry” Tafolla.

Election Day is Tuesday July 16.

In April, city commissioners accepted Tafolla’s resignation.

The upcoming election in Weslaco is to find a new District 4 Weslaco Commissioner.

This comes after Gerardo Tafolla plead guilty in April federal court to one count of bribery involving federal programs following an investigation of a $38 million project for the Weslaco water treatment facilities. Tafolla was one of the men charged in the investigation.

Candidates who will be on the ballot are:

Roy Hernandez Jr

Adrian Farias

Humberto Jorge Chavez

Jose Guadalupe Garcia
