SpaceX Moving Forward with Antenna Installations

Local News

Plans are moving forward for SpaceX to set up launch operations near Boca Chica Beach just outside of the Brownsville area. Much of the work has involved stabilizing the soil in the area for construction. Now we understand one of the first installations will be two huge antennas. The 86-ton ground station antennas will help track missions in space. First from Cape Canaveral then eventually Boca Chica Beach.

The antennas were acquired from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX representatives say the new equipment should arrive in the next few months.
