Thousands of emergency responders from all across the state coming togther for the 7th Annual South Texas All Hazards Conference in McAllen. The two day event is the largest free emergency prepardness conference in the state open to all agencies.
The conference is executed following the organization of the National Indicent Management Systerm a protcol developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to teach coordination between all responders.
Responders will also be attending educational work shops based on their fields of expertise. This years event also has a theme, “Faces of Preparedness – the Human Factor.”
Officials say the Rio Grande Valley does a tremendous job of collaborating and cooperating when it comes to emergency respones. It has taken years to build and they add these lessons learned helps develop a good plan of action and a good preparedness plan.
Due to the National Incident Managment System Protocol the conference follows workshops and trainings are not open to the public.
