Shriners Hospital Provides Service for Many Children in Valley

Local News

LA FERIA, Texas — Providing the highest quality care to children with special healthcare needs regardless of the families’ ability to pay is what drives the Shriners Hospital in Houston to the Rio Grande Valley eight times a year.

The hospital has over 15,000 patients who need long term medical care. The clinics make it easier for patients in the Rio Grande Valley area and from Mexico to see their doctor for regular follow-ups, fittings, or to pick up a custom-made brace.

The hospital sends about half the hospital staff and equipment to serve patients at these outreach clinics.

They invite the community to take advantage of the services, for children up to the age of 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate, to receive care in a family-centered environment regardless of their ability pay.

The clinic will be open Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Rio Grande Shrine Club at 13415 Expressway 83 in La Feria.
