High temperatures in the 60s and lows in the 50s ahead for the Valley this weekend.
An aggressive cold front is moving south out of Central Texas, pushing its way toward the Valley. This front is the leading edge of much colder air and should be slipping through the RGV between 3 PM and 7 PM Friday (today).
This cold front is a textbook Texas norther complete with cool, gusty, north winds and a decent chance for some rain and a few thunderstorms.
The first impact will be on Valley football games. So far the timing of the front should push it through the Valley just before game time. If it slows for any reason things might get a bit dicey with the threat of lighting along the frontal boundary delaying some games. Be prepared for gusty north winds with showers and falling temperatures through your game.
The front is expected to stall offshore and leave a trigger for more showers early Saturday but the risk of rain will diminish throughout the day. Saturday morning temperatures will be in the upper 50s while afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s.
Again overnight lows will dip into the upper 50’s for Sunday morning while daytime temperatures will peak in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
