EDINBURG, Texas – The sentencing of a man found not guilty of murder has been delayed.
Closing arguments in the murder trial of Jose Luis Garcia Jr. were delivered yesterday morning. Garcia stood accused of the murder of Rio Grande City teen 17-year-old Chayse Olivarez. Jurors began deliberating just before noon and worked into the early morning hours to find Garcia not guilty.
Jurors did, however, find Garcia guilty of tampering with evidence. He was sentenced to 8 years behind bars and given a $10,000 fine.
