Sending Spring Breakers to Virtual Reality Jail

Local News

The Texas Department of Transportation is sending spring breakers to jail; a Virtual Reality jail.

It’s part of the “Plan While You Can” campaign. It features the “Plan to Win” game where players of the VR game will answer three questions on Texas driving laws. Get them wrong and you end up in a jail cell. Answer correctly and you get a sober ride.

Octavio Saenz, TxDOT PIO, “They realize they don’t know the answer to everything. We’re hoping that it stays in their subconscious, that stays somewhere in their mind when they decide to go out partying. Make sure that they do one thing which is assign a sober ride or make a plan before they go out and party.”

TxDOT is hoping with Texas Week being split into two weeks, it will cut down on road fatalities this spring break.
