School District Gives Car to Student for 4th Consecutive Year

Local News

Attending every day of school is paying off for one lucky student in Brownsville.

This morning The Brownsville Independent School District gave away a brand-new car.

This is the fourth consecutive year the school district and Cardenas Mazda give a car to students with perfect attendance.

A total of 14 graduating juniors and seniors were selected.

The winner was Antonio Calderon Sanchez, a student from Porter Early College High School.

“I usually travel everywhere either walking or someone else gives me a ride. I don’t really think I want to drive that much,” says Sanchez.

Sanchez says he currently does not have a driving license.

His grandmother accompanied him to receive the prize car.
