San Juan man to be arraigned for allegedly sending threatening messages

EDINBURG, Texas – An 18-year-old San Juan man was taken into custody Monday on a felony arrest warrant for posting threatening messages on social media, targeting several area high schools with one of them being Robert Vela High School.

The Edinburg CISD Police Department in cooperation with other local law enforcement officials immediately responded to the threat and apprehended the suspect. He is expected to be arraigned at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11 at the Edinburg Municipal Court.

Students and staff at Vela High School are safe. Extra security has been brought in to patrol the campus.
