San Benito police arrest woman for crash that killed child, additional charges

SAN BENITO, Texas — One woman is in custody following her involvment in an automobile accident that left one female child deceased.

According to a release, police responded to a crash on Monday morning where a SUV rolled over several times and landed off of the frontage road in San Benito.

During the crash, the nine-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, San Benito police located Maranda Lizette Longoria in McAllen and arrested her for several charges.

Longoria is charged with the following:

  • Intoxication manslaughter
  • Two counts of intoxication assault
  • Accident involving death
  • Two counts of accident involving SBI
  • Accident involving injury

In total, Longoria’s bond is set at $1 million for the seven charges.
