SAN BENITO, Texas — The San Benito Consolidated School District (CISD) Board of Trustees approved a compensation plan that would give a 4% raise for their employees, said a release.

The district says they have been adjusting to the changes brought on by the pandemic.

The plan was approved unanimously at a meeting held over the phone. According to the release, the district also approved purchasing educational software and a resolution regarding class ranking.

During the uncertainty and stress of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are all having to adjust our lives to this new reality… As a board, we wanted to do everything we can to support these employees for all the extra effort, responsibilities, and duties that they have had to make to ensure that our students are successful during this time, and seeing the district come together as a San Benito CISD family is really amazing.

In addition, the release states they approved a $500 compensation for employees as they have been using their personal devices and internet to continue working from home.

“Our Trustees recognized the efforts and sacrifices of our employees.  For that, I am quite thankful,” added Dr. Nate Carman, San Benito CISD Superintendent of Schools.

The release mentions the district has provided nearly 3,000 students with laptops.
