RIO HONDO, Texas – The Rio Hondo Lift Bridge is back in service after being closed for repairs.
The bridge reopened Sunday morning when contractors finished the repairs following a major bus crash earlier this month. The charter bus was transporting detained individuals under the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement when the accident occurred. The bridge was closed and in need of extensive repairs.
$111,000 was invested by the Texas Department of Transportation to get the bridge up and running.
