Rio Grande Valley activist organizations honored in Washington D.C.

MCALLEN, Texas — Two Rio Grande Valley organizations recognized this afternoon in our nation’s capitol. Both receiving the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award.

La Union del Pueblo Entero (LUPE) and the Angry Tias and Abuelas of the Rio Grande Valley were presented with the award at the 36th annual Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award gala.

The award recognizing the groups for their pursuit of dignity and justice for individuals and families seeking asylum at our borders.

The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organization works to forge strategic partnerships working with those whose work advances human rights causes.
